Create Procedural Particle Explosions!

The “Khaos” add-on is a powerful tool that allows filmmakers and 3d Artists to create custom 3d explosions within several clicks. With it's assets and intuitive user interface menu it provides the ability to procedurally add various particle effects including fire explosions, smoke explosions, and various particle debris such as glass, concrete, rocks, tree branches, dirt, metal shrapnel, rebar rods, wo0d pieces and sparks! The KHAOS add-on for Blender 3d is a key for streamlining your VFX work! You can now create custom cinematic explosions for your live action films and 3d art within minutes!

3d Scanned Explosion Debris

One of the key’s to realistic explosions is the compositing of debris inside and around the initial blast.

The KHAOS add-on 3d asset database includes over 35 re-topologized 3d models and scans of common explosion debris you would find in the real world. You can select and add this explosion debris inside custom particle simulations to your scene automatically within seconds.

Add glass, metal, concrete chunks, tree branches, rocks, and more! Then… if you desire… render the debris fields out separately to composite them seamlessly with the VFX compositor of your choice!

Established Platform

The KHAOS add-on builds it’s parameters upon Blender 3d particle systems. Because of this there are nearly unlimited options for the user to customize their explosion systems even after the particle systems are added through the add-on.

1.) Choose your Smoke particulate

Start by choosing what kind of smoke or fire you want to use in your explosion.

KHAOS offers three Blender options: “Dynamic Smoke”, “Dynamic Smoke/Fire”(For smoke to emit from fire particles), and “More Smoke/Fire”(For an extra thick smoke and fire blast…like a massive oil or fuel explosion!

2.) Choose Your debris

Simply check the boxes of the debris you want added around and inside your particle explosion simulation for an even more realistic result!

Different environments will create a variety of debris depending on the situation. KHAOS allows you to choose the debris that is most accurate to that environment!

3.) Specify your particle parameters

Customize the default particle explosion values using value sliders on the second panel inside of the KHAOS user interface.

While the default settings for particles inside of the KHAOS script are excellent in our opinion, we realize that creating your smoke/fire/debris particle systems on a larger or smaller scale means adjusting the parameters in which they are created. For this reason we have added simple controls to customize your particle systems before you add them to your scene!

4.) Choose your explosion “Type”

After you’ve selected your desired settings for your explosion KHAOS offers three options on the “Type” of explosion you want added to your scene.

CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING!

Directional Burst: For particles emitted in one direction like they are coming out of a window or opening.

Omnidirectional Burst: For particles emitted in every direction like an explosion in the sky or out in the open.

360 Groundburst: For particles emitted up from an explosion in the ground.
